Short answer: the balloon is not included in any of our routes, it costs 200 to 250 EUR per person, and wind cancels it often enough that one morning in Cappadocia is one chance, not a guarantee. Everything else in this guide is what to say to your client before they book, so that nobody is surprised at dawn.
Why the balloon sells Turkey
For a lot of clients in Latin America, Turkey is one photograph: a hundred balloons over rock valleys at first light. They may not know the word Cappadocia. They know that image.
That is a gift for an agency, because the picture does the selling. It is also a trap, because the client arrives with an expectation that the weather can refuse. The job is to keep the picture and remove the surprise.
What the morning actually is
Pick-up is in the dark, usually between four and five. The baskets are laid out in a field and the burners fill them while your client stands there in the cold with a paper cup of tea. They lift with the light. For about an hour they float over Göreme, over rock chimneys and valleys that were carved into homes and churches, with the other balloons rising around them.
It is short and it is early and it is the thing they will talk about for years.
Three things to say before they book
1 · It is not included. On every one of our routes the balloon is optional and booked separately, 200 to 250 EUR per person. It is the one significant cost your client meets on the ground that is not inside our price. Saying it early costs you nothing; saying it late costs you trust.
2 · It flies at sunrise. Pick-up is before dawn. The night before is not the night for a long dinner.
3 · Wind cancels it. Not rain, not cold: wind. The operator decides at dawn on the day. This is not rare and it is not anyone being difficult. If your client has one morning in Cappadocia, they have one chance.
One night or two · this is the real decision
Two nights in Cappadocia mean two sunrises. If the first is cancelled for wind, the second one is still there. That is the whole difference, and it is worth what it costs:

81 USD on the short route, 106 USD on the classic one. If the balloon is the reason your client is going to Turkey, that is the cheapest insurance you will ever sell them.
What we do around the balloon
- The hotel is a cave or stone hotel, not a standard city hotel. Your client did not fly across the world to sleep in a business room.
- Two guided days, north and south. Göreme and its valleys on one, then Uçhisar castle, the Red Valley walk and the Kaymaklı underground city on the other.
- Maximum 18 travellers plus the guide, in a Sprinter van. Never a large coach on those roads.
- Entrance fees are passed on at cost, with no markup from us.
So even on a morning when the balloons stay on the ground, the day is not empty. That is worth saying to a client who is nervous about it.
If your client only has two days
Cappadocia can be sold on top of an Istanbul stay they already have. Two days, both guided, two internal flights, one night in a cave or stone hotel, from 503 USD. One night means one balloon window · say it out loud before they book.
